Calamity Clegg to sit out next election

In a daring move, LibDem leader Nick Clegg has insisted he will not take part in the government of Britain after the next election, under any circumstances.

The announcement has dumbfounded the electorate, who now have to consider what is the point in voting for a party that has no intention of implementing any part of its manifesto. Westminster insiders suggest that Clegg is still having a hissy fit over his humiliation in parliament on the Lisbon Treaty.

With Clegg throwing his toys out of the pram, the likelihood of his remaining to lead the LibDems into the next election is dissapating with alarming alacrity, leaving the party with a rapidly diminishing number of MPs who haven’t been leader yet.

Thoughts must now turn to who the LibDems can count on as a credible leader if the torch has to change hands by Christmas. Chris Huhne is damaged by his seemingly-accurate “Calamity Clegg” prediction, Sarah Teather has just stabbed too many colleagues in the back to be supportable, Davey is seen as the architect of Clegg’s foreign policy incompetence. Inevitably, party members will reminisce wistfully about the glory days of Charles Kennedy, and he could yet position himself for a comeback.

The dark horse, however, must be David Heath, Euro rebel noted for his daring weekend attire. Is that a 3 foot dildo in your hand or are you just pleased to see me?

  1. You’ve forgotten Vince Cable, by far the best and most credible potential LibDem Leader, whatever he may have said about not wanting the job in the past. Oh and it ill behoves any Labour appratchik to talk about any other party not keeping their manifesto promises, Labour’s last manifesto was just one great big lie.

  2. So Clegg thinks that this one’s a vote winner eh? Vote LibDem, we won’t be doing anything to change our country under any circumstances.
