Last night, while punditing on Sky News with Iain Dalecroft, Sky brought in spread-betting millionaire and Tory donor Stuart Wheeler to get his thoughts on the Mayoral debate. After facing Dale, Andrew Gilligan, Boris Johnson’s sister and then Sir Stuart Wheeler, I have to say I was feeling a little embattled.
Dale got extremely frosty when I asked Wheeler on air if he was one of the Tory millionaires Iain Dale has “tapped” yet for one of his projects. (Shakespeare:18 Doughty Street, Ashcroft: Total Politics). He also darkly muttered about litigation so I shut up - but not sure under what grounds.
Anyway, I am amused to discover today that Stuart Wheeler has launched a campaign to raise money for… himself.
You can imagine the tv ad for his appeal….
“All over Britain, aged Tory millionaires are suffering because they can’t afford to take the government to court over ratifying the Lisbon Treaty”.
“For just £3 a month, you could buy a QC a latte; £5 keeps a trainee solicitor in pencils”.
“Every penny counts so give all you can to HELP THE AGED TORY MILLIONAIRE“.

Why don’t you get some basic media training before you go on TV,last night you were woeful, like a little frightened rabbit caught in the headlights, completely out of your league, you even managed to make the Lib Dem gal look good.
