Word reaches Recess Monkey that Iain Dalecroft, (formerly Iain Dalespeare) Grand High Panjandrum at Total Politics is in hot water over his “Greatest Speeches Ever” database - chillingly - just above Dr King’s “I have a dream” speech.
After this piece by Recess Monkey’s Bonoboy, Iain has attracted some opprobrium for including Enoch Powell’s “Rivers of Blood” speech on the list, which some consider wasn’t great but was in fact a racist rant.
Of course, Iain isn’t removing the speech from the list, but instead renaming the list “most memorable speeches ever”.
