Unite against politics

Recess Monkey has been passed an interesting publication from the Unite GPM section.

In an article on poverty, the author writes;

Imagine work at a firm that includes;
29 accused of spouse abuse
7 arrested for fraud
19 accused of writing bad cheques
117 directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 served time for assault
71 unable to get a credit card due to bad debt
4 arrested on drug related charges
8 arrested for shoplifting
21 currently defendants in lawsuits
81 arrested for drink driving in the last year

Of course, Unite purports to be describing the current House of Commons.

  1. Just a pity it’s not true. I expect better research from UNITE,

  2. It’s a circular that’s been doing the rounds for years. Patently untrue, anyone could have written it.

  3. As has been said above it’s an urban myth - check out snopes.com and you’ll find it. It was first circulated with reference to the US House of Representatives and I thin that particular version included a few who were supposed to be murderers!
