Interesting profile of PR Week in today’s Observer rightly praising it for a string of recent political scoops.
Media reporter James Robinson writes that the magazine has been “breaking a string of stories that have sent Fleet Street hacks scrambling to keep up.”
Don’t be too hard on yourself, James - you’ve unwittingly come up with the scoop of the year!
“The PR industry now casts a long shadow over Westminster. Brown’s brother Andrew is a PR man and so too is John Prescott’s brother Michael.”
Michael has obviously hid this dark family secret for many a year, from his time as Political Editor of the Sunday Times right through to his current role as MD of Corporate Communications at uber spinners Weber Shandwick.
And the knowledge that John spent more than 13 years trying to keep TB and GB together, now has an added poignancy.
Recess Monkey can sadly confirm relations between the two brothers have irretrievably broken down, to such an extent that they’ve not spoken in over ten years. Not even a Xmas card. It breaks your heart.
Perhaps we can encourage Tone, in between combating climate change and bringing peace to the Middle East, to play the honest broker and reunite the brothers. If not, there’s always Jeremy Kyle.
If you look very closely, you can just about make out the family resemblance.

P.S. Perhaps you meant JP’s PR director son, David.
