Word reaches Recess Monkey that Help the Aged is to merge with Age Concern, creating a powerful lobby for older people’s rights.
In the political arena, Help the Aged is known as the militant wing of Age Concern anyway, as it’s far more likely to have old people climbing the roofs of ministers houses or driving a hearse around parliament square. Age Concern is always seens as a bit more, well, mature.
In fact, this merger is the equivalent of Sinn Fein merging with the IRA
What is unclear at this point is what will be the name of the new organisation.
Old Aid?
Save the Aged?
The Old Foundation?
(more suggestions welcome…)

Word certainly does travel slowly - this was announced during party conferences last year.
