Picaninnies need not apply

Some discomfort has been caused by the advertisement of these two jobs for a researcher and a PA to BNP London Assembly member Richard Barnbrook.

Barnbrook caused a lot of distress in the GLA in his first week as an assembly member when he made a point of going round the entire building seeking to shake hands with every black person he saw. A number of people reported feeling intimidated by this move.

Recess Monkey was discussing this career opportunity last week and it emerged that a number of black and Jewish people are intending to apply for the positions, just daring the GLA to discriminate against them.

Rumour has it that staff in the GLA media team are also having a race to find out who can first get the word “picaninny” into a Boris press release legitimately (and without getting sacked).

  1. Might one suggest that all who wish the BNP ill submit an application, therefore bolloxing up the process.

  2. From the oqge itself,

    “Equal opportunities

The GLA will realise the benefits of London’s diversity by:

    * promoting and enabling equality of opportunities
    * promoting the diverse needs and aspirations of London communities

All staff will be required to follow and implement the GLA’s policies and undergo any training necessary. ”

I hope that’s water-tight and leaves them no wiggle-room, but I’m not so sure.

  3. Previous post should’ve said “page” not oqce….Euro keyboard..
