Mad Nad brings out the pervs

Seemingly sex-obsessed Nadine Dorries has written a detailed account of the sex lives of teenagers on the ConservativeHome blog, arguing for abstinence. While I can’t help thinking she would have been better off publishing the piece in Just 17 magazine (any teenagers reading conhome regularly are unlikely to be getting laid anyway), it’s rather unfair of Mad Nad and conhome editor Tim Montgomerie to be evangelising on other people’s sex lives when we know nothing of their own. Are they practising abstinence?

Furthermore, it seems that the piece has illicited some dubious attention from Tory members, not least from this sleazemeister whose comment I have helpfully screen-shot for my esteemed readers.

  1. Do you think you may be becoming slightly obsessed with Nadine Alex?

  2. She’s trying to gain attention by riding on the wave of intolerant fundamentalist christianity. So she needs to be pointed out and ridiculed for the cynical right wing agitator that she is.

Unless she actually believes this rubbish… then it’s even more important that everyone finds out that she is a sexist, authoritarian pseudo racist (as the people she is a mouthpiece for decry Muslims and people of other and no faith(s)).

Campaigns for abstinence don’t prevent teenage pregnancy anyway. The US style abstinence campaigns only postpone sexual activity by 6 months, and then because they destroy confidence in condoms by stating they don’t work, the poor kids don’t bother to use them or any other kind of contraception.

Better to have comprehensive sex education where the kids, who are probably going to have sexual contact anyway, know how to minimise the dangers of pregnancy and STDs.

  3. Did it not occur to you that Grant Melville might be having a larf?
