Looks like Alan Duncan isn’t the only member of the Shadow Cabinet whose taken money from Mr Pieman.
George Osbourne’s Tatton Conservative Association took £3,000 in 2006 from Midland Chilled Foods Ltd who produce - amongst other things - Burgers, Pies, Pasties and Eccles Cakes!
Also like Duncan and our good friend Ed Vaizey during Nutsgate, there’s no mention of the donation in the Register of Members Interests.
It seems Midlands Chilled Foods Ltd are very well connected - it funds Shadow Work and Pasties (sorry, Pensions) Secretary Chris Grayling’s office and its parent group Midland Food Group Ltd has given £30,000 to Conservative Central Office.
Looks like we’ll have to keep digging!

“Political Party receives donation” is not a story. Our whole political system is based on it.
And did it occur to you that the reason it appeared on the Electoral Commission website and not on the Register of Member’s Interests was that it was made to the Association, and spent by them. You MUST know that it costs money for an association to run and campaign, surely?

Could be worse. Alistair Darling is now blaming other people for his mess:

I’ve put one of the fringe events at tory conference up on my page. It is about tackling obesity in children and will be chaired by Mike Penning who is, well, obese!
I’m sure the refreshments will be pies or something!

[…] Regular Recess readers will also know he has habit of ‘forgetting’ to put things in the Register. […]
