Osborne exclusive - Lame academy

wellington-college.jpg

Recess hears the Tories are this weekend training a new generation of young conservatives with a masterclass in soliciting donations!

Yes, Shane Greer has organised the Young Britons’ Foundation Activist Training Conference which kicks off this Friday at Wellington College (£50 a ticket including accomodation and drink - and by god, you’ll need it!)

Seminars include:

The do’s and don’ts of appearing in the media
Television and radio skills training
Becoming a candidate and winning elections
Running successful campaigns

These will be delivered by such experts as:

Iain Duncan Smith - ousted by his own party without facing a General Election
David Davis - lost leadership to Cameron
Iain Dale - turned Lib Dem/Con marginal into a 10,000+ safe seat and Chief of Staff to David Davis
Eric Pickles - lambasted for saying he hoped he made John Prescott a bulimic

But our favourite course has to be:

Direct mail, personal solicitation and other fundraising tips

Looks like the Boy George has been lined up as the guest speaker!

  1. The tories were desperate to draw the limelight off GB’s good moves on the economy. Careful what you wish for: i wrote more at opine-blog.com

  2. Hi Alex,

The conference has been organised by Christian May (although I did organise the conference last year). I’m pretty sure he’d rather that he got the credit.

    Best,
    Shane

  3. Alex,

Shane’s right. T’was Christian May who’s done all the hard work for the organisation this year.

  4. This is a far more interesting story about Hunky Dunky being recruited for The A-Team:

  5. Get a girlfriend! Because you can’t get a seat!

  6. Considering your ‘achievement’ in 2005, monkeys in glasshouses shouldn’t throw stones.

  7. Shane,

You’re far too modest. I’m sure you and Christian can both share the “credit.”

    And the money.

  8. Surely what they need are Bliar, Mandelson and Bernie Ecclestone who can explain how a one million pound donation to Labour can get a tobacco advertising ban overturned. Now THAT’S how to do it!

  9. Osborne doesn’t have Oleg to stand on

  10. You neatly highlight a certain irony in timing
