Lib Dems - Missing Here

Great concern that ‘Honest’ John Leech, Lib Dem MP for Manchester Withington seems to be lost in (in)action.

The McDonalds lobbyist has gone missing, doing the usual Lib Dem trick of saying the popular things in election leaflets and bottling it when it comes to making unpopular choices.

He wants the £1.5bn investment in public transport that would flow from a ‘YES’ vote in the Manchester congestion charge referendum but er…not the congestion charge.

He ignored the public debate last Thursday night and amazingly stayed away from the debate on Post Office in parliament, despite regularly pumping out leaflets on how committed he is to saving post offices (see picture above.)

Recess would appreciate any sightings.

Hat Tip to Chris Paul.

  1. He wants the £1.5bn investment

    —————

You mean, he doesn’t want the 1.5 bn increase in taxation or debt

  2. It’s £3 Billion really. Plus all the multipliers and related private investments.

The interesting thing that Nick and the other flat earthers in the no campaign don’t get is that most infrastructure projects are part debt, part public funding, part public subscription, part toll.

Take the Ship Canal for example. Now owned and operated - with tolls naturally, as Barton Bridge, Barton Airdrome, Liverpool Airport. lots of other Peel businesses - by arch enemies of tolls Peel Holdings.

Ship Canal - people’s shares, private debt, charges to use it. Same as Panama and Suez and many railways etc etc. When it was built it was a huge Transport Innovation. Only a couple of ships worldwide couldn’t be fitted in the locks. And these were capable of being deepened ad lib because of the construction.

Brilliant stuff. And a similar model -> except with 50% tax payers money and extremely low debt charges during 30 year pay back period.

They, Peel’re against it because John Whittaker (owner) wants to buy our airport and also finds he isn’t getting enough bowing and scraping from elected members and officials.

Leech meanwhile is a stone muppet. missing two Post Office and One Transport debate in just a week. Utter lightweight. Clearly wants to leave office asap.

  3. boring.

This seems like a particularly engaging job: http://www.w4mp.org/html/personnel/jobs/disp_job.asp?ref=16911

  4. also, isn’t running a website with such overt party branding against the funding allowance????

  5. Only if it’s funded by the Communications Allowance. That one blatantly isn’t.
